True ending is a category where the goal is to beat the game, then complete the postgame as quickly as possible. The Any% portion of the run is mostly the same with mild differences. The goal is to collect enough coins to buy 999 seconds of speed buff and 1 attack buff, then unlock Masked Hammer. In the postgame, you need to collect 250 out of 300 leon souls, no matter which stage they are in. This makes routing this category very unique and interesting

Maingame Portion

The maingame portion of this run is largly similar to the Any% run, a basic route for that can be found here. Here are some of the small differences listed below.

  • You need to finish the any% run with 1100 coins to have enough for all buffs and Masked Hammer, some locations are listed below:
    • All extra coins in the glider mouth section
    • The coin pile in the secret corridor at the start of 4-1
    • The 3 blue coins found on the clock tower at the end of 4-1
    • The coin pile in the secret cave at the start of 4-3
    • The coins found by going past the Crash ability statue in 6-4
    • Taking the lower route with Pipe Mouth for an extra Waddle Dee
    • Killing all of the big enemies during the final Big-Rig Mouth section
  • Since you are getting the Pipe Mouth dee in 6-4, you can skip the Coaster Mouth dee at the end of the stage
  • You can also redeem the THANKYOUMETAKNIGHT code before buying maingame buffs, then collect the rare stones on the way out. Doing things in this order saves ~5 seconds [Citation Needed], but loses ~1:20 [Citation Needed] in the any% run.
