Introduction

This is a complete KDL3 Any% guide.

At the top of each section, there will be a summary of the animal friends and abilities you need to obtain in that world. There will also be a note of any individual stages that have additional important instructions, such as which path to take when given a choice.

Each stage will have pictures of any important rooms with instructions on what to do in that room.

Unless specified, don't pay attention to what is happening in the picture, as it's only meant to identify the room, not guide you on what to do.

There may also be text between stages, which tells you what to do (surprise) between those two stages.

Blue text indicates the best course of action if you die in that room. It will tell you if you should continue the level as Kirby or leave and get an ability and/or animal friend.

If you don't see a picture of the room you died in, refer to the instructions for the most recent room you've seen in that level (or the first room shown if you died near the start of the level).

Keep in mind that, if you're likely to die again in the level, it's best to try and complete the stage instead of leaving, coming back, and losing your animal friend or ability again.

Also keep in mind that getting a Game Over will make you restart the entire stage, so it might be worth it to soft reset if you have zero lives going into a stage.

Then you can follow the instructions as if you died in the first room of the next stage.

The border around the room picture indicates what to do if your ability gets knocked out of you.

A red background means that you need to regain your ability if at all possible.
Yellow means you should try to get it back, but it's not the end of the world if you can't.
Green means you don't need an ability, so there's no reason to go after it.

If using 2P strats, you can spawn Gooey before the minigames (1-3, 2-3, 3-3, 4-3, 5-3) and then have him go in the door after they're done to save time. (Make sure to actually fail the minigames.)

Grass Land

Coo in 1-3.
Optional: Stone in 1-4, can be used until 2-6 if desired.
If not using Stone to fight Whispy, get Clean in 1-6.
See notes for 1-4 and 1-6
Stage Image Notes
1-1 Kdl3-any-1-1.jpg Touch at least one tulip; this one is recommended.
Get the invincibility candy in this same room.

Finish the level.
1-2 Kdl3-any-1-2.jpg Choose whether to take Chuchu or go solo.
The level is easier with Chuchu but faster without.
Finish the level.
1-3 Example Get Coo in this door in the first room.

Get Coo here.
Example If death occurs in or after this autoscroller, finish the level without Coo, then go back in and get him.
1-4 Example Stone is optional and can be used all
the way until 2-6 if desired.

Go back to 1-3 and get Coo.
Example When encountering the 3 Zebons (green blobs),
go in the middle one so that you get an
invincibility candy.

From this point on, finish the level without Coo.
Afterwards, if you want Stone, get both Stone and Coo in 1-3.
If not, get Coo in 1-5.
1-5 Example Keep going and pick up Coo in the
left door of the next room.
Example Get Coo in this door.
Example If you die in or after this room, finish the level.
Then get Coo (and Stone if desired)in 1-3 before going to 1-6.
1-6 Example Go back to 1-3 for Coo (and Stone if desired).
Example The corners of this room are dead-ends.
Zigzag left and right through the tower that you start in.

Go into the first door in the next room to get Coo.
Example Coo is in this door if needed.
If not using Stone for Whispy, get Clean in this room.

Get Coo here,
and either Clean in this room or Stone later in the level.
Example If you lose your ability, regain it before Whispy. Stone is in the next room
and Clean is in 1-5. If using Gooey, have him take Coo and you can destroy
the block beneath you (with Clean, Stone, or by inhaling) and fall straight down.

If you die in this room or the next, finish the level without Coo.
Then get Coo in 1-3. Also get Stone or Clean as described above.
If you don't have Coo, get him in 1-3. If you don't have an ability, get Clean in 1-5.
Boss Example Coo and Clean is the fastest way to beat Whispy;
Coo and Stone is the easiest. Clean can be discarded after Whispy, but Stone can be kept.
If you lose your ability, just continue the fight.

Get Coo in 1-3 and either Stone in 1-3 or Clean in 1-5.
