An intentional type of movement. By holding guard and moving the left stick in any direction, Kirby or Bandana Waddle Dee will roll in the direction you hold the stick, and moving it mid-roll will change the direction. Using it near an enemy hitbox will slow down the game for a second, so it isn’t useful in RTA runs.

Slide Jumping

ezgif.com-optimize.gif

The beginning of Kirby's slide will shoot him forward very quickly, then gradually slow down over time. By jumping you can cancel the slower part of the slide. This is generally the fastest way to move without any copy abilities.

Dodge Rolling

An intentional type of movement. By holding guard and moving the left stick in any direction, Kirby or Bandana Waddle Dee will roll in the direction you hold the stick, and moving it mid-roll will change the direction. Using it near an enemy hitbox will slow down the game for a second, so it isn’t useful in RTA runs outside of very tiny optimization.
