Mega Titan is the boss in Carrot Castle.

Wheel

Mega Titan

MtCue.png

The blue region is the recommended visual cue for emulator, while the green region is recommended for console.

There is a small window when wheel is active where jumping will hit Mega Titan from the left side. Alternatively, you can opt to wheel jump twice into Mega Titan from the right, at the cost of losing a second to using the further wall. Once you get Mega Titan damaged on the electricity once, time your attacks into Mega Titan just as it gets up to push it back into the electricity and make short work of it.

Careful not to stand on top of Mega Titan's gauntlets when not using Wheel, even while Titan is taking damage. Their hitboxes can become active and hurt you.

Titan Head

3-cycle fight

Go near the corner, use Wheel, and then jump after winding up just before Titan Head reaches full health (do not wheel-jump otherwise you will get hit). Jump into Titan Head with your Wheel and turn around after dealing damage each cycle. You can beat it a little faster if you land 3 hits on the first jump.

2-cycle fight

The 2-cycle fight is an advanced method of beating Titan Head, however is quite precise to execute. It is done with the following steps:

  • Position the tip of your cap on the left shadow of the pillar to aid timing.
  • Wheel jump at full height the moment Titan Head reaches the bottom edge of the circular window pane in the background (or use the healthbar as a cue if you prefer).
  • Turn around after 2 hits and land 2 more hits. This is a narrow timing: turn around too early and you get hit by the Titan Head, too late and you get hit by the electricity.
  • Cancel Wheel after the fourth hit.
  • Jump and then activate Wheel at jump height.
  • Jump and turn around the moment you reach the floor.

These steps all require precise timing and positioning. The setup is intended to land 4 hits on the first cycle, and 6 hits on the second cycle, for a total of 10 hits (20 damage) to kill the boss. This saves around a second over a 3-cycle setup.

Wheel-loss Fight

In 100%, you have an option to fight Titan Head without having to save Wheel for later segments if you routed out enough alternative Wheel grabs in the rest of the run. This means that instead of doing a difficult 2-cycle fight, you can simply use star bullets to finish off Titan Head half a second faster.

In order to do this, eject and inhale your own Wheel, and do a descending star-bullet once Titan Head passes the middle of the screen. Float as high as you can, and puff before Titan Head shoots its missile. As you fall, inhale the missile and finish off Titan Head with another star bullet.

UFO

Titan UFO 1 cycle.gif

Top runners can opt to go for a risky UFO mix prior to the fight in order to save around 2 seconds total (compared to 2-cycle wheel). While the mix and the movement cost some time, the sheer speed of the fight more than makes up for it. Since you don't end the fight with Wheel, an extra wheel mix is necessary for DMK.

It is possible to defeat Mega Titan in a single spray attack using 2 precise inputs:

  • Hold left before entering the room
  • Time a very short B tap once you're at the center of the pillar
  • Time a perfect up input once you're past the pillar

While the chance of this succeeding is low, this is a good way of dealing damage to Titan nonetheless, and the standard way to finish off Mega Titan afterwards is to do another spray attack right afterwards.

Charge your beam before Titan Head spawns. Let go of your beam once Mini Titan reaches the middle and immediately spray to end the fight.

Cutter

Cutter is the recommended backup ability to use in case Wheel is lost. Land 4 hits with Cutter to push the boss into the electricity. From there, spam attacks to finish off Mega Titan. For Titan Head, land 3 hits, then use a star bullet from your discarded ability to finish the boss.

Including movement, Cutter loses around 4 seconds to (3-cycle) Wheel.

Co-op

Mega Titan goes from 40 to 50 hp for 3 and 4 players, and needs to be zapped by the wall an additional time.

Titan Head has 20 hp initially, and 24 hp for 2 players. There's a considerable jump to 32 hp for 3 players and then 40 for 4 players.

Because of Titan Head's substantial hp, Cutter is arguably faster to use for 3 and 4 player runs.
