Wii U VC

KatAM on Wii U has varying load times depending on how long the game has been running prior to a hard reset. Sometimes loads can take up to 30 seconds long. Other times, loads can be much faster than normal. Abusing this exploit is banned! The best way to avoid varying loads is by restarting the game, creating a restore point before starting a new run, and loading that restore point when resetting runs.

Emulators

mGBA is the only allowed emulator (Bizhawk / Retroarch is allowed when using mGBA core)

BIOS is required to be used with emulators to normalize loads, this can be downloaded on the Internet.

For emulator runs, the GBA splash screen is required in the video submission.

To use BIOS in mGBA

Under the tools menu -> Go to settings -> BIOS -> Select your BIOS file under gba bios file -> Check Use bios file if found

To use BIOS in Bizhawk

Under the config menu -> Go to firmware -> Scroll to the GBA BIOS option and select your file -> Now go under the GBA Menu -> Go to sync settings -> Select false for skip BIOS

The best way to verify if the BIOS is working is if you see the GBA startup while hard resetting.

Switch VC & Framerate

Switch VC runs at 60 fps, while the native framerate used in other versions is 59.7275 fps. Runs need to be retimed in order to account for this difference.

mGBA needs to be set to the native framerate.

To set the framerate in mGBA

Under the tools menu -> Go to settings -> gameplay -> Set the FPS target to the native framerate

Regional Differences

The title screen in the Japanese version of the game excludes a 56 frame delay that is otherwise present in other versions of the game. As a result, the Japanese version saves around 7 seconds in any% and 15 seconds in 100%.

The Japanese version of the game has the fastest credits, while the European version has the slowest.

The Missile ability deals more damage on direct hit in the Japanese version than in other versions.
