English and Japanese pages can be linked together by using each language's respective TranslationBox template. English pages should use the [[Template:TranslationBox/en|English translation box]], and Japanese pages should use the [[Template:TranslationBox/ja|Japanese translation box]]. If a page is updated in a specific language, the other language should also be updated. This could be done with machine translation tools such as DeepL. A native speaker could then update the page to fix any errors that may be caused by machine translation.

Languages: English 日本語

The Kirby Speedrunning Wiki can be edited by anyone and everyone. If you have never contributed to a wiki before, it may be difficult to grasp everything. This page is here to explain how everything works.

This wiki is built from the MediaWiki framework, which is popular and used for several wikis. Some notable examples are Bulbapedia, WiKirby, and Ukikipedia. All Fandom wikis also use the MediaWiki framework.

This wiki is bilingual. The only two languages we plan to support are Japanese and English, as those are the two most prominent languages in the community. We strive to give each language equal treatment and accessibility on the wiki.

Wiki Structure

Accounts

In order to contribute to the wiki, an account is required to be made. This is so edits to the wiki can be monitored.

In addition, any contributions to the wiki will need to be verified by a moderator. If you are a trusted member in the community or have contributed to enough articles, an administrator will manually give you a role which bypasses this verification. More information about this can be found in the moderation page.

Game Namespaces

A namespace is essentially a group of pages in a wiki. You may notice that in the link of each game, there will be an abbreviation or short-hand of the game's title, followed by the name of the article. Every article is given its own namespace so it can be grouped by game (for more information on namespaces, view this page from the MediaWiki site).

The Kirby Speedrunning Wiki covers every single game in the series. To mitigate confusion, every article needs to be grouped this way. There are some exceptions to this rule, however, such as articles listed on the Main Page. Generalized articles do not require an abbreviation and can be placed in the "mainspace", which is simply an article that doesn't have any designated namespace.

Each game will receive its own main page, which then branches off into the articles for that given game.

Page Translation

Each page on the wiki should have an English and Japanese version, allowing both languages to be able to read its content.

English and Japanese pages can be linked together by using each language's respective TranslationBox template. English pages should use the English translation box, and Japanese pages should use the Japanese translation box. If you are unfamiliar with how to use these templates, you could either check an existing page that already has one in use, or ask in our wiki Discord for assistance.

If a page is updated in a specific language, the other language should also be updated. This could be done with machine translation tools such as DeepL. A native speaker could then update the page to fix any errors that may be caused by machine translation.
